Managing tables from the Data module

From the landing page of the Data module, you can edit, delete, and clear data from your tables.

Editing table data

In the Data module, you can view, add, or remove columns in a table.

  1. From the list of tables in the Data module, find the table with the data you'd like to edit.

  2. Click More actions (...)Edit table.

  3. Make changes to the data in the Edit table wizard. In this wizard, you can:

    1. Add a table description

    2. Add table columns

    3. Delete table columns

  4. Click Save.

Transforming data

Use the Transform data feature to find and replace data in any table from the Data module.

  1. From the list of tables in the Data module, find the table with the data you want to transform.

  2. Click More actions (...)Tables toolsTransform data.

  3. In the Look in field, select the column you want to search in.

  4. In the Make change in field, select the column that you want to make the change to.

  5. In the Find field, type the value you want to find in the Look in column.

    Important

    In the Find field, asterisks (*) act as wild cards and underscores ( _ ) act as placeholders. If the Find field is blank, the engine searches for empty cells in the specified column.

  6. In the Change to field, type the value that you want to input in the Make change in field.

  7. To save the transformation, select the Save transformation checkbox and type a name for the transformation.

    Note

    After a data transformation is saved, it can be accessed for editing or deletion in the Admin panel. Saved data transformations can also be scheduled to run at predefined times through the Scheduler module.

  8. Click Done.

Deleting rows

In the Data module, you can filter and delete multiple rows from a table at one time.

Note

The Delete rows feature isn't available for View tables, or if the rows of the table are locked.

When you delete rows from a table or clear an entire table, all child table records that have pick listed columns that are linked to the table are also deleted.

This action will be recorded on the Audit page, along with the start and finish time of the row deletion operation.

Important

This operation deletes the selected rows in the table as well as all referencing rows from other tables. This action cannot be undone.

  1. From the list of tables in the Data module, find the table you'd like to delete rows from.

  2. Click More actions (...)Table toolsDelete Rows.

  3. Define the Restrictions to filter the rows that you want to delete.Restrictions

    Important

    If no restrictions are defined, the entire table is cleared.

  4. Click Preview to see all rows that are deleted based on the restriction.

    If there are more than 1,000 rows in the preview, only the first 1,000 records are shown.

  5. Click Delete.

Clearing tables

In the Data module, you can delete the entire contents of a table without deleting the table itself.

When you try to clear a table that contains a key column that's pick listed by other tables, you'll receive a warning message. You can choose to continue with the deletion or cancel the action. Click the Details button to view the dependent tables that are affected by the table clearing.

Table clearing can be scheduled by using the Scheduler module.

Important

Table clearing cannot be undone.

  1. From the list of tables in the Data module, find the table you'd like to clear the data for.

  2. Click the more options menu (...) → Table toolsClear Table.

  3. Click Clear.

Purging history for a table

You can delete the recorded history of a table from the Data module.

  1. From the list of tables in the Data module, find the table you'd like to purge the history of.

  2. Click More actions (...) Table toolsPurge Table History.

  3. If you selected a data table, select a date range for which to purge history.

  4. Click Purge.

    Important

    Purging table history cannot be undone.

  5. Click Confirm.

Linking to the History Viewer

From the Data module, you can link to the History Viewer of any table to view how your table has changed over time.

  1. From the list of tables in the Data module, find the table that you want to view the history of.

  2. Click More actions (...)Table toolsView History.

From the History Viewer, you can choose which date range you want to view your table's history for, or export the table's history.

Deleting a table

You can delete a table from the Data module.

  1. From the list of tables in the Data module, find the table you'd like to delete.

  2. Click More actions (...)Delete.

  3. Click Delete.

Note

When a table is deleted on front end, the history table is also deleted.
